Malta is an island you can go to all year round because the winter is mild and the summer is long and warm. The temperature in winter is between 15-20 degrees during the day and in summer it can be around 40 degrees in July and August. The best time is spring and autumn. Autumn has the advantage that the water in the Mediterranean is above 25 degrees. Because the sea is so warm, the evenings become lukewarm and comfortable. The water is clear and clean and there are several nice beaches. The whole island experiences exciting culture and history. There is a large selection of accommodation from simple apartments up to luxury hotels and spa facilities. Since Malta is so far south (9 km south of Sicily) the climate is very favorable. You can actually sunbathe and swim until the end of November. All transport on the island is good and cheap as well as food and drink. Domestic drinks are cheap but imported drinks can be expensive. The currency is the euro and it is left-hand traffic in Malta. The language is English and Maltese. Give 10% in tips at restaurants, signaling that you are satisfied. If you do not give tips, it is interpreted as dissatisfied with the food you have eaten.

Good shopping and walking into the back streets you can find real bargains. Mdina Mdina, also called 'The Quiet City' is Malta's medieval capital and is located in the middle of the island. If you have not seen Mdina you have not been to Malta it is said. Gozo Gozo is an island located 6 km northwest of Malta. The island is greener and there is less traffic here than in Malta. Here it is calm. You take the boat from Cirkewwa to Mgarr. The town is called Victoria and here is the worthwhile citadel located at the highest point in town. Here on the island are several attractions such as Kalypso's cave, Ta´Pino basilica, Azure Window, etc. Comino The smallest of Malta's three inhabited islands and there is only one hotel and no cars. Here is The blue lagoon. Comino is perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling and windsurfing. On the north side of the island there are several nice beaches. Island for sun and bath lovers.
